The many uses of iconic photos

If you believe that your pictures of California beaches are exceptional, there’s potential to expand the circle of those who may see your images. In the picture above, I took the three sunset pictures of a surfer walking in front of Huntington Beach Pier at Sunset, a downtown Huntington Beach water fountain, and a sunset picture with a fanning palm at Huntington Beach Pier. The photos were reviewed among many of my pictures and selected for use on a Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort & Spa check in folder in which guests’ room keys are placed. Artwork of a woodie on the beach was one section of the folder, and my pictures were set in a soothing blue color similar to ocean water, providing a background for them and verbiage about the destination. This is an interesting application or use of photographs, though not unfamiliar to me as a professional photographer. My photos of other destinations — Big Bear Lake, Pismo Beach, San Diego, etc. — have been used in hotel and resort brochures. The pictures usually capture some scenic element of the destination, evoking a great mood.
